Thanks for the response. However, I spent about an hour solving one problem and moving on to the next, and was never able to get it installed. The .run file required dpkg, which I was able to install, after which it required apt-cache, which the software installer could not provide. Eventually there were four dependants needed which were likewise unavailable. Obviously one or more additional repositories are required, but I have no idea which.
I tried to install the .deb package with similar results. I could only open it with Ark, and couldn't figure out how to use dpkg (which is present) to get it installed.
No other distribution I've used has ever required this much work to get TimeShift installed. That even includes openSuse, thanks to their build service. I hope some day Mageia will offer it in their installer.
Is there a way to install a .deb package to Mageia that I haven't figured out yet? I saw no way to install a downloaded .deb file with the Install & Remove Software tool.
