[SOLVED] tuning Compiz fusion cube display

I wanted to see the 3D effects of the rotating cube so I installed this manager.
It installed fine and I was able to set it up thru the config settings manager.
With ctrl+alt down or sideways arrows the cube rotates but it fills the whole screen
so there is no 3D effect. I need to somehow reduce the desktop display size, or
have a missed a setting along the way?
System is 32-bit with KDE

followup: I did find the desktop sizer in compiz config, however settings made no (apparent) difference.
Using the ctrl+alt and left/right arrows I got a rotating 3D cube but the image was flickering badly. I changed
the refresh rate but no real change so I think it's my low-end Nvidia card that is not up to 3D standard. No matter.

You do not need compiz for 3D effects in KDE.
KDE has its own 3D.
Menu>Tools>SystemTools>SystemSettings>DesktopEffects

I had ticked the cube settings before in KDE but all I got was a revolving desktop when switching virtual desktops.
With Compiz I had a (kind of) cube "inside" the desktop. It was something different.

Would just like to add that in desktop effects I slowed the cube animation speed down to 'very slow' and got a neat rotating desktop with a 3D effect. Nice

With the KDE cube effect activated Ctl+F11 gives you the cube inside the desktop you are looking for.

ah yes, it certainly does, and it will rotate in all directions - I had a minor glitch but got that sorted - it doesn't pay to hold any of the arrow keys down so they cycle ...

It's handy to have this feature to show friends (and possible converts) the capabilities of Linux and it's many desktop choices.
