[SOLVED] Synaptic touch pad stopped working - help

Postby ind-pc_student » Oct 31st, '11, 12:41

Hello fellow mageia users,

I have started to use a usb mouse to do more presision tasks, those tasks you really need a mouse {for example. online theory driving practice hazard perception partt of the test}.

Rebooted back to mageia to have some fun, however I forgot to disconnect the usb mouse and logged in and loaded my session with this mouse.

A problem has developed when idisconnected the mouse the touchpad on my toshiba sattellite L300D-243 is no longer responding even after a reboott, any ideas on how to solve this problem?

Thanks every one in advance for any help you provide.

You can try: synclient TouchpadOff=0
It should restore your touchpad. I hate having it interfering with my mouse and usually I deactivate it with:
synclient TouchpadOff=1
For switching it on and off you can have 2 aliases of that kind (in .cshrc):
alias t 'synclient TouchpadOff=1'

On Centos 5 you can get synclient in the synaptics rpm (on my system synaptics-0.14.48.fc6). On Opensuse you could find synclient in a package like xorg-x11-driver-input-7.6-29.1.x86_64. And on Mageia I find x11-driver-input-synaptics-1.4.0-2.mga1.
