KDE binaries

Anyone doing binaries for KDE 4.7.1 or .2 for Mageia 1 ?

Well, KDE is a really big thing, and it cannot be reduced to a bunch of binaries.

KDE SC 4.7.2 is shipped with Cauldron, the development version of Mageia 2, but it can't be added as an update or backported to Mageia 1: it would generate too much instability and we couldn't ensure that the update goes well on every user's system. It would be really hazardous, so the general rule is that we do not ship major versions of softwares as updates.

thanks for the info, I'll play safe and wait for the release of Mageia 2.

Well Mageia 2 will get KDE SC/Platform 4.8 :)

That sounds good to me. I had a look at KDE 4.7 on a Shakra project DVD, and was impressed, so 4.8 should be even better. :D
