SOLVED——ASUS monitor not found in monitor list

Postby leon244 » Sep 12th, '24, 22:09

I haveupgraded my hardware (mobo, graphics card) in my previous set up Mageia recognized my Asus monitor and I could set it to the right resolution
I now have a gigabyte z790 Aorus Elite ice AX board and Nvidia rtx 4070 card and installing Magiea has been problematic. It only reverts to basic resolution and I cannot change it from the drakconfig .

I am at a loss for ideas. Could this be a bios issue for the mobo? Has Asus been dropped from the list of monitors?
Any and all ideas welcome.
Right now all I ahve is a pile of junk

Nvidia released Linux drivers about 18 months ago for that card, the 530 series of drivers. You might try kernel modesetting in drakconf.

Since some decades you don‘t need to chose a manufacturer and model at the monitor setup. It is a historic setting.

If you don‘t have an really ancient monitor, the plug and play preset should be fine.

Thanks everyone. I finally got into drakconf and was able to set my monitor to function. Thanks to all

What did you actually set up in particular? Your description from the other thread sounds like you broke the working setting.
You should never select a monitor, only leave it at Plug&Play which is the default.
