WiFi in DUTZO-COMPUTER

Postby bjarne0thomsen » Apr 2nd, '24, 12:01

I have DUTZO-COMPUTER made by proshop.dk that worked with Mageia8, but it does not work with Mageia9.
It is a Gamer-PC, with a Power-ON button for the power-supply. In mageia8 it was booted by first turning on the power supply, followed by turning on power to the motherboard.
That does not work in Mageia9: only the motherboard is booted. Some services are missing. Proshop writes that I must install Windows11 to get WiFi working, and WiFi is used to charge my mobile-devices.
Is this really true? Do I really need to install Windows just to get WiFi? This is insane. Now, there is a new kernel, I should be testing.

Welcome to our forum :)

Could you expand on
only the motherboard is booted. Some services are missing.

I.e what happens actually? - do you land on command line or get a graphical login?

If it is not possible to update your computer, you can prepare and update a Live system on USB stick, and than boot in ton that DUTZO to test.
That Live system can then create an installed system from itself.

Create a Live Mageia 9 USB stick, with persistence, and boot it on another system and do a full update:
https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Persistent_l ... dated_Live
(includes instructions on removing unused locales before update, to save space and time)

What Dutzo model do you have, and what's the hardware - can you post a link to the specs ?

It might help if you would add some more context information, it's unclear what you actually observe when booting this with mga9.
Does it boot normal and you only have no wifi? Or does it not start to boot at all, at least that's what your description suggest.
If it boots, please post the output of
Code: Select all
lspcidrake -v

Also how do you use wifi to charge your mobile-devices?

This is a dififcult topic to explain, because it applies in Denmark, only.
Denmark invented the Central Personal Register in 1970 in order to enforce the source taxation.
All Danish companies have access to the content of CPR. DUTZO is made to work in Denmark. I did boot from a live SD. Apparently the live SD cannot be changed. I cannot access the internet. This is just to set the stage. I am open to suggestions.

I have installed openssh, but the live SD has only ssh-client, not sshd
I cannot use sftp to transfer lspcidrake, or any other file. How do I get sshd?
I suspect, it has something to do with the Danish CPR.

I don't understand how any of that has to do with the hardware specs of your box. Can't you just post the specs here, at least what chipset it uses ? Or at least what Dutzo model you have?

And for the lspcidrake output, can't you simply plugin some USB drive and save it there?
Or just note down the PCI vendor/product ID from the wireless chipset and post it here.
As an example, the part in bold would be the important part:
[doktor5000@Mageia9]─[01:12:59]─[~] lspcidrake -v | grep -i network
iwlwifi : Intel Corporation|Wi-Fi 6 AX210/AX211/AX411 160MHz [NETWORK_OTHER] (vendor:8086 device:2725 subv:8086 subd:0024) (rev: 1a)
igc : Intel Corporation|Ethernet Controller I226-V [NETWORK_ETHERNET] (vendor:8086 device:125c subv:1043 subd:8867) (rev: 06)

So, if you kan show me how to make a live media with an ssh-server, the problem is solved. It would be great, if it was possible. I could then avoid all this Windows stuff.

Anything in Mageia repo, and more, can be added to Mageia Live using persistence, as explained in the wiki page I linked to.

You can also spin your own Live.
For some usage it is better to install to USB like installing to disk (particularly if you want more than the original + latest kernel to choose from)
Both methods linked from https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Persistent_l ... ve_methods

But if the Live boots with current updates (good test) i suggest installing to disk.
