DNS stopped working

I've noticed that DNS lookup stopped working on my Mageia Linux system after a recent update. It's driving me nuts.
For years I've occasionally looked at the cartoons at thefarside and dilbert, but suddenly those websites disappeared. I initially thought dnsmasq might be the problem, but I've turned that off and I still can't see thefarside and dilbert. WTF? I've looked at resolv.conf and dnsmasq-resolv.conf, but I haven't been able to fix the problem. Can I get help to fix this?

It might help if you would post what you actually currently have in your resolv.conf.
Apart from that, the output of dig or nslookup might help.

I didn't imagine that both websites might actually be down. Amazing. Oh well.
