[SOLVED]nVidia package install fails - bad SHA256 signature

Hello all,
I saw some other people were having problems with nVidia driver previously but didn't see this problem. Is it only me?
A week or so ago I had 5 updates come through for the nVidia driver. It was trying to install 470.86. But the installation fails with 2 mismatching SHA256 signatures (see screenshot) on the doc-html and the nVidia driver.

I obviously need to do something to rectify this but I don't know what.

Any help greatly appreciated.

It has nothing to do with Nvidia. It's a failed download/bad synced mirror. Remove your mirror set and add a new set. After that issue following command to clean your rpm cache:

urpmi --clean

Try to update again.

How do you go about removing your mirror set? I thought you just selected a new one and it would replace the previous one (a big assume). Is it possible to have multiple media mirror sets installed? If so, how do you find out which ones you have installed/defined, and go about removing unneeded ones?

I ask this because, after I saw your reply, I followed what you said (but I just selected a different mirror set) and re-ran the update of the packages; but it failed again with the same errors.

This morning I don't even have the packages identified in my taskbar to update, strange as they have been there for over a week to update.

and go about removing unneeded ones?

highlight the unwanted ones ("ctrl" or "shift" +left mouse click) and then "remove".

regards the persisting bad SHA256 signature, it is possible, that, an error was introduced by a mirror higher up the chain that both the mirrors you use feed from.

Good to hear from you again. Are you still across "the ditch" (me being in OZ).

Anyway, I found that it does indeed just keep adding media sources - I had about 5 separate ones. So I deleted all of those.
Ran the "urpmi --clean" command that sturmvogel suggested. Then reran the nVidia package update......only to fail again with the same errors.

The only media source I have defined now is the Mirror List (see screen shot)

So I still have no idea what is going on.

Any ideas. Should I have to run another command or something?

ok. so you need to remove those ones again.

what $mirrorlist does is, by geo-location, picks the nearest mirror to you, in all likelihood aarnet, same as for me, so the same faulty one again!
How-ever aarnet seems to have, for me anyway, regularly those bad SHA256 signatures.

top left of the image you provided there is a "File" entry.
click on there and choose "Add a Specific Medium Mirror."

approve the popup about mirror list.

choose a mirror from the provided list.
if you just type "au" it will highlight the australia mirrors entry. pop the mouse pointer onto it and "left mouse click" the arrow and it will show all AU entries.
choose the internode one - it seems to be more reliable (for me anyway)

Good to see you are still with Mageia, I find it to be pretty much install and forget.
a recent "top" indicated this machine had been on for 82 days, without issues.
A power cut the other day drained the UPS so a new run begins.

The mirror list picks one of the mirrors that is next to you (the one with the fastest connection). Make sure that you pick one that is up to date: https://mirrors.mageia.org/status

Thanks for that. I've done that. I usually choose Internode as my NBN (snail-paced "FAST" internet connection [25Mb/s!] - BIG JOKE in OZ) - is actually with Internode so my downloads shouldn't count against my Gb monthly allowance!

Okay, removed everything. Added Internode as a Specific mirror. Ran the clean command; tried to update the packages again.........same errors!!!!!

As you say "pandemic responses around the world imply that here is a good place to be. " as is OZ. Although the new Omicron strain has invaded and started to spread!
I had my 3rd vaccination 2 days ago (I am immunosupressed), due for a booster in 6 months. Hopefully we can keep this bugger at bay on both sides of "the ditch!"

thanks for that, I have made those changes as proposed by you. As I've said to benmc, I've set it to Internode (my service provider anyway) - Current status "2021-12-08 02:37".

But the updates still fail with the same messages.

According to the mirror list, Internode is not completely up to date. I don't know your internet plan and your contract details and so on. And i don't know how expensive internet/telecommunication contracts/GB per month at your location is. But it seems that the Internode mirror is the problem and you should probably try an other mirror.

Thanks for that, It was pretty much UTD yesterday (2021-12-09 14:10) when I tried to re-install the packages.
Anyway, nothing is working to get around this! I have removed Internode, Tried aarnet (another OZ mirror) both with no success. I tried TW and JP - got quite a few failures getting metadata for the Tainted Libraries and something else - so also a no go.
I have now got the nju CN mirror, tried to re-install - FAILURE AGAIN! Each time I have been running the urpmi --clean cmd.
I thought this was working, but after I actually read the output I now had my doubts.
An example:

It was then that I realised I should have been issuing the cmd as root! D'OH!!! So added sudo before the cmd, voilà, it worked!
Not only that, I was finally able to install the failing nVidia packages!!!!!
