Mageia 7, Plasma/KDE 5, PrtScn

Is it just me, or is it impossible to get the print screen key (PrtScn) to launch anything with shortcuts, much less a screen capture program? Worked fine in Mageia 5/KDE. Strangely, all my media keys on the keyboard work fine, and I can even map the "Favorites" key (looks like a star) to call a screen locker. But nothing seems to work with PrtScn. It is just a plain 'ol Microsoft Natural Ergonomic 4000 keyboard.

When I set the trigger and press the key, it says "Print", so the mapping is correct. I tried the default "Action", I tried various things there with no effect. Pressing the "Call" on-screen button works, pressing "PrtScn" results in nothing. I even turned that off and tried launching the program directly with one of the "Examples". Nada! Sometimes the simplest little things....

FN + INSERT(PRT SC)

FN = function key
INSERT second is PRT SC

and it works fine

I don't have an FN (function) key. But I tried Control + PrtScn, which it accepts, but same problem, it doesn't work. So very odd. I tried Alt + 8, same thing. Nothing I use as a trigger ever works.

Question: you said that the PrtScn key doesn't work for any action, but then you also said Alt + 8 doesn't work; do you mean that if you associate Alt + 8 to screenshot it doesn't work either? Or does that shortcut not work with anything? If it's just the screenshot, you might want to check if Spectacle actually works (if it doesn't, try entering the 'spectacle' command on a terminal to see if there are any error messages).

Regarding the PrtScn key not working, I had a similar problem years ago and had to temporarily remap the key code with xmodmap, so you might try that. Reference: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... ug/1243733

Correct. I can assign ANYTHING to the function and it never launches anything.

Spectable works fine. I can call it from the command line,the apps menu, or I can even click on the "call" button inside the plasma shortcuts settings screen and it pops up.
