Msec skipping check because Sectool is missing

Postby zugunder » Aug 23rd, '11, 23:19

Hi,
I check my security settings recently and found out that weekly security check reports include this line:
Code: Select all
Sectool check: skipped (sectool not found)

I can't find any traces of sectool in the standard repos... Any idea - what the problem may it be?

Thank you.

Which weekly security check, from msec maybe?

Well, sectool is available:

Code: Select all
[doktor5000@mageia1 ~]$ ufn sectool
Core Updates Testing:sectool-gui-0.9.3-1.mga1.x86_64
Core Updates Testing:sectool-0.9.3-1.mga1.x86_64

Also i wouldn't say that this is really a problem, it just tells you that the program is not installed
and the check was skipped, no warning, no error or something the like.

Well, it is not a problem now, when I know where to look for it...
However, though it is active in msec, it is neither installed with the system nor can be found in automatically configured repos.

Thank you for the link!

UPD. It doesn't start anyway - some python issue...
BTW, chkrootkit, which is mentioned in msec is not installed either, but is available in regular repos.

Thanks leuhmanu, I did not manage to find it myself.
It looks like I have exactly the same issue, and even the output from the terminal after launching sectool looks the same. Obviously, there something wrong with it.
