from a prior thread on kaddress book, it seems only a handful of people use use it.

there is an unresolved thread at the moment that some people including myself (i dont use it normally, but tried to add some independent testing to the thread) find it crashes when creating groups.

as most of the help on this forum is from people experienced in using a particular feature, i suspect your thread may remain unanswered.

instead i would head on to the KDE forum, where i suspect kaddressbook is used much more, and you may find more support.

from feedback i observe and my own preferences most mageia people, use apps that are dedicated/specialized to a use case rather than the ones included with the desktop.

some feedback about plasma may give you that impression,
however as a desktop, besides the issue where closed apps appear to occasionally crash on exit, (appear is the important word here)
I find it a perfectly usable environment that works the way i like to work.
so its a bit harsh to say its not ready for use.
however with respect to kaddress book, my own experience so far , although very limited , there are some issues around the edges.

from what i hear in the discuss mailing lists, they are also preparing an update to plasma 5, along with kernel, and a few other things.

thats not to say they will necessarily squash a specific issue

worth waiting for those updates and then see how it is.

thank you Peter, i'm using mageia from first release, before i have used madriva and before mandrake, but now can't storage important contacts in a system that systematically erase them,

Well, for starting plasma 5, it take a time that give me some suspect , that in some parts isn't at kde4 level

With mageia 5 and kde4 i have a perfect desktop, ready for business use;
i have installed mageia 3,4, 5, in some pc of my customers that are completely satisfacted.

for the moment i don't upgrade them at mageia 6

your right that mga5 was a fine OS

I also used ma* since 2001, slackware 3 before that, sunos before that, and solaris in parallel from 92 onwards

kde4 has had many releases now, remember what it was like first year out?

plasma will take a few releases to stabilise, but i like it better than kde4.

more like the look and feel that lxqt bought.

Thunderbird

which tries to be like outlook and does a pretty good job overall, i even have it syncing my appointments using google calendar.

thunderbird can also connect with an ldap server or use kolabsync (i think that names right to) synchronize the addresses using a webdav or imap server
