Shutdown/reboot hangs when mounting cifs over wifi

Postby asimov-solensan » Oct 30th, '17, 23:10

Hello,

So basically seems that when mounting a partition manually when on wifi systemd recognizes it as a local resource and disables network before unmounting, hanging the system for a couple of minutes on shutdown or reboot.

Seems that the problem appeared on other distributions:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1214466

And seems related to systemd, wpa_supplicant.service or networkmanager.service.

This is really annoying and was wondering if there is any known workaround for mageia because the ones suggested on that thread didn't work on me.

Thanks for the help.

I answer myself. Although there is a long story behind systemd and cifs, in mageia is solved just using _netdev as an option in fstab. Hope this helps some others.

Hello,

I thought that the problem was solved but I still got the same hangs randomly. I really can't replicate the error.

This is my fstab line.

Code: Select all
//server/shared /home/asimov/server/ cifs _netdev,guest,uid=asimov,gid=nobody,iocharset=utf8,users 0 0

Can't know how to find more information about. But it would greatly help if others using cifs tell me how they mount a partition and if they have found this same problem.

Thanks a lot for the help.
