Disappearing mouse

I recently installed Mageia 6 and have a problem where the mouse disappears in lower than maximum resolutions when the mouse it moved to the right edge of the screen

The monitor is 1900x1050 which is how the installation boots by default. I changed that to a resolution to be able to see better. Now if I move the mouse -- with either th touch pad, the TrackPoint button or an external, USB mouse -- to the right edge of the screen, the mouse disappears and does not come back. This does not happen for any other edge.

The first times this happened, I used the keyboard to log out and when I logged back in the mouse re-appeared.

At some point I tried running the screen in 1920x1080 and found that the problem does not happen. With the display resolution dialog open, I changed to a different resolution (I tried several and had the same behavior with each). I moved the mouse to the right edge and it disappeared. No amount of moving the nouse aroud brought it back. I used the keyboard to switch to the display resolution dialog and changed the resolution back to 1920x1080 -- lo and behold my mouse was back. I repetaed this several times with different resolutions, always finding that I could get the mouse back by switching the resolution back to 1920x1080.

My computer is a 2014 lenovo W540 with an AU Optronics 15" display.
In the Mageia Control Center, the Mouse is listed as
SnPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad
TPPS/2 IBM TrackPoint
(This problem also happens with the TrackPoint button.)

What if you set the display to 1920×1080 and made the icons and fonts bigger in the graphical settings? Would that help you to see better?

I first tried changing the font sizes (I don't care so much about icons) and everything looked very much out of proportion. Curiously, that is less the case if I just increase the font size in, say LibreOffice or Firefox.

I also tried "scaling" the desktop and the results were pretty ugly.

For me, selecting "Force fonts DPI" and increasing the value in System Settings (Plasma Desktop) gave a better result than scaling.

Is your display resolution really 1900x1050? I don't think this is very common (at least not for Europe).

Anyway, setting a resolution different from the actual monitor resolution will result in a less sharp display for a flat screen monitor.
