Black screen after successful update to ver.6

Have tried to installed i586 version 6 onto a desktop :

Upgraded from version 5 to version 6 ( i586 ) by network / all ended successfully..
After reboot the Grub loader screen came up with the choice either Mageia or Advanced...
After a while the blue Mageia screen came up with the pot with bubbles - with one bubble sparkling ...
Thereafter it went black -- and even-though I heard some activity, the black screen remained ....

Once more tried with a full install from DVD and ran through a full install to a successful end...
install was successful ..but same story as above and ended up with a black screen....
Have repeated the whole cycle once more with a net-install disk.. ended up with same result...

Finally tried once more with the full install DVD - but again only resulted in a black screen...

The pc. always ran ok on Mageia version 5 and all install have been done and completed till
the very end just before accepting the version upgrade from the MGA-applet.

which desktop?

during boot-up, if you can: ctrl+alt+F2 tty2 (or +F3, F4 =tty3,tty4)
login as root.
run

which driver is the system trying to use?

choose vesa or nouveau driver, test to confirm a valid driver and resolution, save and exit.

thanks - will try this evening (CET) with another system next to the 'victem''... / will provide feedback there after...

Quick question though -- when having the choice of a video driver -- how can I test after having made the choice .. ?

Have tried the above - no success:

Started pc. / got the Grub loader choice for Mageia or Advanced -- entered for boot and pressed Ctrl-Alt-F2 / F3 and F4
Result: blue screen cam up with Mageiga and after several times clicking Ctrl-Alt and either F2, F3 or F4;
with F2 - a list of actions appeared, but when finished the black screen appeared again - and couldn't enter any command.
with F3 same thing
with F4 nothing appeared

Same tried with booting through Advanced - but than activities were shown but followed by a black screen only...

any suggestions..?

Forgot to mention - all desktop = KDE

Managed through Advanced boot - to get to the point where able to enter my Root password.
Then entered drakx11
and started to make the choices for Vesa and Nauveau -- then tried test but get an error message to change some parameters.. ?
Have also tried with Radeon driver -- resp. HD 6400 and later (have a Radeon 9000 AGP card).
Than clicked test and got a window fullwith colored tripes with question if ok or not... // selected ok.
However than get a new window with Graphic Card & Monitor Configuration -- and here it shows a message:
""Ignore the following Glib::Object::Introspection & GTK 3 warnings
same happens with other graphic card choices...
when hitting 'Quit' - a new message appears that I should reboot for changes to take effect...
Than get a Root prompt and enter""systemctl default""
and end up on black screen again at the end... / Same when stopping the system and booting again...

note: have tried same with all Radeon drivers, but same result --- when booting in advanced the system shows that
it sees the Radeon card etc., but nevertheless after tryin a reboot or actual boot all end up in the black screen...

That "Ignore the following Glib::Object::Introspection & GTK 3 warnings" is just telling it is normal to see a lot of warnings (unfortunately that is the way it is normally - not beautiful)

Do the system boot and run a live Mageia 6 ?

Sorry for not getting back earlier// lots of issues....
No this device doesn't get anywhere since the upgrade and after a totally new installation -- all remains the same as descriped earlier above..
On meanwhile I've given up on this one... / thanks for advise and trying to help ...
