Hi,
I am using mageia 6 with the mate desktop and compiz. When I am watching something on youtube using firefox and I click on fullscreen when I attempt to exit full screen by pressing the escape key nothing happens. I have to do a hard reboot to get out of it. I cannot cycle through the open windows. I think that it has something to do with compiz. Thank you

Maybe you should disable compiz and try without to see if the issue persists ?
I'd suggest staying away from standalone compiz and only use desktop effects when they are available via the desktop environment you're using.
