Hello,
Fedora says :
A package that is provided by the rpm fusion non-free repository is needed for Lightworks to work properly.

Install the required package libCg and install lightworks after.

Did you do it?

I did indeed, gave the exact same dependency errors. Is there no way to auto detect when a package requires non-free libraries and to offer to install the non-free additional packages? I remember when the codec installer first came out. I am surprised there is no notice for package installation as well. :/ Not to mention when you go to add rpm fusion there are so many to chose from.

Yes, there is, that's why we have package managers to do that. But then the package that you want to install must either have been adapted for Mageia or the distribution that you wish to install it onto, or it must be done in a generic way so that such dependencies are found also on other rpm-based distros. This is certainly doable, as e.g. packages like google-chrome show.

You can only install the package in it's current form via
Code: Select all
urpmi --allow-nodeps ./lwks-14.0.0-amd64.rpm
in the folder where you put that package, and then later on you need to verify if the dependencies are already installed or if you still need to install them.

Ugh, that is painful. However when I installed on Debian I had to cp lib portaudio to a directory I had to create. Such a fantastic video editing solution but painful to install.

Running one command to install it is painful?
If you think it's a fantastic video editing solution then best send them some honest feedback about the current linux package and ask them nicely if that could be improved.

It is a bit frustrating though. I was on mandrake from 7.2 - 2010.2 and I have been stuck on the Ubuntu distros since because the package support is so easy, just no issue typically and with Ubuntu currently I think Mageia could take over the top spot. I just ran into issues with installing lightworks and yandex browser, two things I use daily, mostly Yandex and it is frustrating. I want Mageia at the top. Anyway, I am planning to get back to Mageia as soon as the final 6 release is done but I am trying to make sure the move is easy. Mandrake always stood out because of ease of use. And now the stupid buntus are the best supported. I mean, really very easy to use.

Welcome to Mageia mattkingusa :)
If you like, present yourself at viewtopic.php?f=2&t=15
If you would like other Mageian fellows to use Lightworks, please make a wiki page about it.
Such is also good to have for ones own sake when reinstalling...
If you want to compare painfulness, i am trying to sort out ownCloud upgrades and Nextcloud migration at https://wiki.mageia.org/en/OwnCloud ... sigh... :?
It seem like for lightworks it would be rather short ;)

Hahaha yes, alright. I dont mess with cloud backups but I have heard the new next cloud is amazing. Bad voltage covered some of those updates..or maybe Bryan Lunduke.
