[DONE] Question about .un~ file

Postby ITA84 » Dec 15th, '16, 23:17

I've just noticed a file in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d called '.20-dri3_radeon.conf.un~'; it's where I also have my '20-dri3_radeon.conf' file to set some Xorg configuration options. This hidden file looks like the .conf file but filled with several unprintable characters in-between, making it look like a binary file, and its modification date is last boot.
Anyone knows what it was created by?
Thanks in advance

Maybe by aticonfig or the catalyst control center or whatever that's called nowadays, did you run any of those?

I'm using the open source driver so it shouldn't be that, they shouldn't be installed at all (will check later to make sure). Since I have a hybrid Intel/Radeon system, could it have been an Intel tool instead? I've searched a bit and there's an official update tool, but I've never used it either

I don't know whether you might have any intel tool installed - do you ?

The only one I've found installed is intel-virtual-output. I don't know exactly what it's for, the man page talks about connecting to a remote output; never used it.
I deleted the .un~ file yesterday and it hasn't reappeared so far. Thanks anyway
