Postby b4dave » Oct 11th, '11, 00:02

Please help!!! I am a new Mageia user and i cant install new packages in the package manager. I keep getting this message for gpodder. Sorry, the following package cannot be selected:

- gpodder-2.15-2.2.mga1.noarch (due to unsatisfied mplayer) and this one for amarok. Sorry, the following package cannot be selected:

- amarok-2.4.1-1.1.mga1.i586 (due to conflicts with libthreadweaver4-4.6.5-1.2.mga1.i586) :?

What happens when you try to install mplayer?

It is working on my mageia. Can you update your repository via "rpmdrake>file> software source update"?

I have amarok and libthreadweaver installed without any conflicts. I suggest trying to install the library first without amarok and see what happens after that when you try to install amarok.

Quite randomly I happened to find a possibly related bug in rpmdrake and submitted a bug report. It seems when several versions of a file are available (say because of updates) and you initially try to install the wrong one, rpmdrake gets stuck thinking your trying to install the wrong one and won't let you correctly choose the new one. The solution, if this is the bug is to simply quite rpmdrake, and select the correct version.

Also, urpmi from the commandline seems to work. So I would try opening up konsole (or similar) and typing:
> su
(enter root password and then)
>urpmi gpodder
>urpmi amarok

The first error is because mplayer is in tainted which by default is not enabled.

The second is strange unless you were running cauldron before the release of Mageia1 as the libthreadweaver version installed is older than the one in the release.

It can also happen when dependency packages are not visible: I disabled all 32 bit mirrors, and got this error when trying to install a 64 bit package that requires a 32 bit one.

You realize that the last post in this thread is from nearly two years ago?
And if you deliberately disable repos that are enabled by default, how should Mageia prevent that?
