[SOLVED] Still having Qt5 library version issues

Postby ITA84 » Jan 16th, '16, 17:49

I understand there have been issues in Cauldron due to the upgrade to Qt 5.6, but it's been a while and I'm still having crashes here and there (I'm having problems with the application launcher plasmoid, krunner and dolphin). The error message

Cannot mix incompatible Qt library (version 0x50501) with this library (version 0x50600)

also appears 3 times in .xsession-errors after login, though I have no idea which libraries/applications give that message.

I have the latest Cauldron packages (except for some Java-related packages which have incorrect signature). Is anyone else having the same problems? Are there any packages that still need to be rebuilt for 5.6?

Thanks in advance

Yes, I'm on Plasma 5 (have been since 5.2, I think). I'd already upgraded the latest 15.12.1 packages just before posting. The other packages should've already been rebuilt since Plasma 5.5.2 and Frameworks 5.17 (except krunner which also seems to be still at 5.17), but what about Applications? Maybe some packages haven't been rebuilt correctly, but how do I figure out which ones? Is the revision log reliable?

The stuff I'm sure doesn't work correctly is

- dolphin (I can cause a crash by attempting to create a folder in a plugged-in USB drive)
- krunner (crashes as soon as I enter some text)
- application launcher (crashes more randomly, but usually when I enter search text)

You may post these to devel mailing list instead as many developers are not reading this forum.

Just reporting that the issue was solved with yesterday's updates somehow. Not sure what packages did the trick, but I'm marking this as solved

Indeed there was a packaging mistake in the lib(64)qt5-database-plugin-* packages that prevented them from removing the older qtbase5-database-plugin-* packages, I fixed it a few days ago.
