You posted that already above, that alone won't help. And you can easily attach the file.
Below the forum editor (only available in Full editor, not via quick reply), switch to the tab "Upload attachment".
Upload your file, then when finished, click in the editor window where you want your file to display, and click the button "Place inline".

And you are intended to run this command: viewtopic.php?p=60384#p60384
Cauldron is not for the faint of heart!
Caution: Hot, bubbling magic inside. May explode or cook your kittens!

FWIW, could also be this bug which was recently reported: https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17123

That's pretty much it in a nutshell, but how do you install the patch? I'm no wiz when using linux but I can stumble around.

You could try adding a file e.g. /etc/profile.d/99qt-no-glib.sh which should be executable and which contains a workaround that helped for most people:
Code: Select all
QT_NO_GLIB=1; export QT_NO_GLIB;

As root the following should create that:

Code: Select all
echo "QT_NO_GLIB=1; export QT_NO_GLIB;" > /etc/profile.d/99qt-no-glib.sh && chmod +x /etc/profile.d/99qt-no-glib.sh

Eureka almost,

Found out a few other things,,,, shutdown now works, restart now works, The TV card and sound mixer are now working whereas they had quit working before but I figured it wasn't related. The warning for new updates icon is back and working again however it won't activate MCC and neither does the menu setting. That does work in a terminal however so no big deal there. Thanks Dok for your patience and suggestions, I was about ready to ditch what I had and re-install Mageia 5 but would have hated to go through the updates again and run into the same problem. You've been a tremendous help and I might have even learned a little bit. Now if I can just remember it. :) Should I mark this Almost Solved ?
Thanks again

Well, then please open a separate thread for that, and mark this one SOLVED.

But before, please read viewtopic.php?p=59728#p59728 and make sure you have installed all updates, and provide the following information in a new thread:

As your normal user of
Code: Select all
ps -ef|grep -v grep|grep -iE "polkit|policykit"
loginctl show-session $XDG_SESSION_ID

and as root the output of
Code: Select all
systemctl status polkit.service -a

I have had a "fail to shutdown" problem for sometime and none of the above advice actually fixes the problem, so it is either not solved or there is something else causing this laptop + mageia5 + kde system not to shutdown. The sytem is updated though I suspect it was an update some time ago that actually caused the problem. This system ran well for a few months but now has a number of really annoying problems.
Some of the other things that are happening: see my comments in Mageia bugs 16203 and 17430 and also KDE bug 328571.

If you're the one who created https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17430 then you should probably start a separate thread, as KDE not shutting down seems to be the least of your problems.
Spontaneously disappearing files, a broken RPM database and what not. You probably should first ensure that your hardware is OK, and then backup your files and do a fresh installation.

And for the KDE bug, not shutting down is something completely different then what is described in https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=328571 as that one is about KDE not starting.
In any case, the workaround for that is noted in the first comment, simply run the following command as root and reboot:
Code: Select all
echo 'QT_NO_GLIB=1; export QT_NO_GLIB;" > /etc/profile.d/qt-no-glib.sh
