Insert media named Core Release ?

Postby jbarntt56 » Aug 15th, '15, 10:22

I just installed Mageia 5 on my new PC. Wanted to add a couple of software packages, (Remmina and Abiword), the package manager finds them, and their dependences, but then tells me to insert the media with Core Release.

I inserted my boot flash drive, which used to install M5, no joy. What do I need to do so I can download software? Also, I get the same message when I try to update the existing M5 system. Didn't have this problem with M4.

Any help, much appreciated,

TIA,

There's a bug somewhere about that and also something in errata. The simplest solution is to remove USB media marked as Type CD-ROM media.
You can see picture named "Media sources just after an installation" in isadora's link.

[SOLVED] Re: Insert media named Core Release ?

Hi isadora and filip,

Got it fixed. Mageia Control center (on the task bar) -> software management -> Configure media sources.

Uncheck the CD-ROM sources. I added non-free and tainted, as I use AMD's Catylyst drivers.

Installed Remmina RDP client and AbiWord, no problem.

Apparently, with the CD-ROM source checked, Mageia will not look at the other options selected. A minor bug, and easy to fix.

Thanks for your help!
