[DONE] Lirc segfaults

Postby mark9117 » Aug 5th, '15, 23:47

New 64-bit Mageia 5 install, trying to install lirc0.9.1a.3mga5.x86_64 to work with mythtv 0.27.4 - all installed from repos.

I can't get lircd to run. It segfaults as described in the journalctl info here:

Code: Select all
ug 05 15:29:38 pvr systemd[1]: Failed to reset devices.list on /system.slice: Invalid argument
Aug 05 15:29:38 pvr lircd[16521]: 'lirc' written to protocols file /sys/class/rc/rc0/protocols
Aug 05 15:29:38 pvr kernel: lircd[16521]: segfault at 8 ip 00007f39202b8e8e sp 00007ffd2824fa28 error 4 in libc-2.20.so[7f3920224000+1aa000]
Aug 05 15:29:38 pvr systemd[1]: lircd.service: main process exited, code=killed, status=11/SEGV
Aug 05 15:29:38 pvr systemd[1]: Unit lircd.service entered failed state.
Aug 05 15:29:38 pvr systemd[1]: lircd.service failed.

Not finding anything on the Internet specific to that segfault.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled, but no joy. Has anybody gotten lirc to work in Mageia 5?

Thanks.

Mark

Just found this:

http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.linux. ... ugs/161776

Looks pretty close, or not. Filing another bug report.

I'm guessing lirc is dead for Mageia 5?

See bug Bug 13978, in particular the workaround in Comment 2.

Okay, thanks for that. It does allow lircd to load.

As Lirc is not exactly "working," I really didn't consider myself "Done" with the issue.

But I'll chalk this one up to "does not segfault" and call it done. I'll open up another "it does not segfault, but does not work either" topic.

Thanks.

;)
For the record:
It does work with the devinput driver if you are lucky enough to have a remote supported by the kernel Linux input layer (http://www.lirc.org/html/configuration-guide.html)

I have a logitech Harmony 300 (I think) and I just dug out an old lirc.conf that worked with it. It works once again.

I'm happy about that, now moving on to Mythweb and why I can't get to it from anything but localhost.

Feel free to jump in there if you have any ideas.
