No, you must check why you're still running Cauldron, if you're not up to such problems.

Cauldron is NOT Mageia Stable! Like you have been told many times before.
Cauldron is not for the faint of heart!

*Sigh*

Tell me, how can our developers ensure that Gnome 3 will be stable before upload to Cauldron mirrors if they can't test it? The purpose of Cauldron is to run these tests, and Cauldron users tacitly agree that their distribution will not be stable. If you want a stable release with Gnome 3, you will have to wait until Mageia 2 is released.

Please take in consideration what we all tell you, for we will begin to get tired of saying the same things: install Mageia 1 or stick to Cauldron but bear with it.

Cauldron is not for the faint of heart!
Cauldron is definitely not a rolling release of Mageia.

Ok, my solution worked only temporary.

Updates are rolling in and Gnome is a construction site again (danger zone, desaster area ... :lol: )

For everybody who created a gnome-shell.desktop file, I recommend to delete it.

So let's stay cool (you know who I mean especially) and let the devs do their work ...

:mrgreen:
cheers,
Bernd

And please don't forget:

Allright Gals & Dudes ...

Creating a file

Code: Select all
gnome-shell.desktop

with the following content

Code: Select all
[Desktop Entry]
Type=Application
Exec=gnome-shell --replace
Hidden=false
NoDisplay=false
X-GNOME-Autostart-enabled=true
Name[en_US]=Gnome Shell
Name=Gnome Shell
Comment[en_US]=
Comment=

works again with Gnome3 - the "oh no" - message is gone for ever

But do not save this file at /home/USER/.config/autostart/, because this will disturb all other desktop environments you have on your system

Instead save the gnome-shell.desktop file as root in:

Code: Select all
/usr/share/gnome/autostart/

Now Gnome3 works correct, but KDE, XFCE, LXDE will not be disturbed ...

cheers,
:)
