Dolphin panels tied to window

I used to like having Dolphin's Folders panel outside the main Dolphin window for easy file management - like a floating toolbar. I cannot post a screen shot because this no longer works. According to KDE Docs, it should work: "By unlocking the panels and clicking and dragging a panel title, the panel can be moved to a different position, even outside the window" (https://docs.kde.org/stable/en/applicat ... anels.html).

When I now unlock the panels and try to drag the Folder panel outside the window, it snaps right back into the window. This may be a bug or a problem with my settings. I have already tried deleting dolphinrc, with no success. I am running Mageia 4 with all the latest updates, on a Packard Bell EasyNote TE laptop.

Is anyone else experiencing this behaviour? I can guarantee that dropping the panel outside the window used to work, because I used this functionality for years. Thank you for any help you can give.

This is not an option that I've ever used, but when I move the panel outside the Window I have the same experience as you - it jumps back in. You should probably open a bug report:
