Screensavers Question

Postby cyber-dragon-14 » Apr 11th, '14, 23:47

In Windows XP I have found that a number of the screensavers in Really Slick Screensavers are pretty awesome. I find that I really enjoy a number of them but especially the one called Skyrocket. A "fireworks display".

Here is the original page for it:

http://www.reallyslick.com/screensavers/downloads.html

Here is a site for a GLX porting of them:

http://rss-glx.sourceforge.net/

And from the link on that page, mainly the item under Binaries called "searching for rss_glx on rpmfind.net." here is a list of the binaries that are in RPM's:

http://www.rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=rss_glx&submit=Search+...

Is it possible to use any of these? I would really love to have these screensavers in Mageia. Reason I ask is I noticed a number are labelled "Mandriva" and the most "generic" looking one that caught my eye was the one with the file name of:

rss_glx-0.9.1-1.i586.rpm

The one first in list.

You could try the procedure described in https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5512 - it might still work. I don't think you can use the later (Mandriva 2011) RPMs as Mandriva switched to rpm5, which I believe is incompatible with the rpm version used by Mageia.
