Can't play DVD's

System: Sony laptop vpcse (~2years old) quad core 64bit.
Upgraded from Mageia 2 to Mageia 4. In the update I got error messages (signal 11) that there were problems reading both the file of medium "Core Updates" and the medium "Nonfree Updates Testing".
Even with those messages most things worked well (I was delighted to find all my files intact!) The install did "forget" to load Thunderbird and VLC. I downloaded both, apparently without incident. Thunderbird works, VLC doesn't. VLC will open, show the appropriate DVD in it's queue, but fail entirely to play it.
VLC worked well in Mageia 2. My partner's upgrade from Mageia 3 to Mageia 4 on a generic Intel machine went well including VLC.
He says he cannot now find "live dvd css2" in the repositories.

Make sure you have the tainted repositories activated.

Then download and install
