[SOLVED] Cannot set width of monitor post-upgrade 2Mageia-4

[SOLVED] Cannot set width of monitor post-upgrade 2Mageia-4

Postby DonaldFR » Feb 4th, '14, 19:23

Mageia-4 works fine with my laptop monitor, but a Samsung HDMI external monitor displays too wide to see both ends of the task bar, preventing me from seeing the application launcher. Changing the resolution ignores the width issue. Oddly, if I set the resolution on the external monitor at certain values, the task bar disappears from the laptop screen, but this does not happen with other resolutions. Suggestions?

FYI, all of this worked fine in Mageia-3.

Thanks!

Never mind, I figured it out. Your solution to monitor image positioning was so simple and clever that I couldn't figure it out!

For everyone else out there, when you open the Display and Monitor application, simply move the images of the monitors around on the field to position the image where you want it.

FWIW, that's the switch to kscreen, which is just awesome. The old kc_randr didn't even allow for positioning of screens via drag&drop like now.
