[SOLVED] How to install Adobe Flash Player

Postby babydoc » Dec 20th, '13, 22:51

I have downloaded the latest Adobe Flash Player for Linux in both rpm and yum forms. Which should i use for Mageia 4 and how do I do it? I am very new to Linux and am not very good at console commands.

Please have a look at our MAQeia for flash player plugin: viewtopic.php?f=34&t=880
and maybe in viewtopic.php?f=41&t=5337

As your processor is a bit older, you can also have a look at viewtopic.php?p=33099#p33099

If you are new to linux you should be using Mageia 3. Mageia 4 is still in development.

Software should be installed using Mageia repositories. This can be set up in the Mageia Control Center (from the gui: tools - system tools - Mageia Control Center)

I doubt that I could reach Adobe Flash Player via Mageia repositories. Adobe has its own site for Flash Player for Linux and all it does is allow you to download the package as yum, rpm, gz, etc. Is there a Mageia gui app to install a yum or rpm package? I think it would be the same in Mageia 3 or 4.

The package "flash-player-plugin" is available in the repositories.
It will download and install the correct version from Adobe.

Adobe flash is in the repositories. I have it installed on my Mageia 2 box. Be sure to enable the nonfree repositories to get the proper access.

Thank you. I found the syntax for using RPM buried in the Adobe readme and installed the Flash Player. I will look for it in the repositories just to teach myself something.
