[DONE] Hope This M4Beta2 turns into M4

I'm not really qualified But I had a spare stick 5gig but it will do. M3 isn't starting up as good as I'd like so I figure I haven't much to lose. I'll download the Mageia 4 Beta 2. I had problems installing into M4 live so I'll do a system upgrade. Downloaded H4 beta 2 full by Ktorrent without incident then saved it to a stick with isodumper. Upgraded M3 to M4 no problem. then deleted the orphans.

When I was in 4 I had a slight difficulty configuring the update sources the ticks wouldn't stay ticked. the DVD sources were defaulting to being ticked and as those sources where on a stick and update was only looking for a DVD that wasn't going to work. Generally the whole process was very smooth and easy.

Sorry, just have to ask. Why exactly did you post this in support subforum?

You could try to remove them via
Code: Select all
urpme.removemedia "name of repo"
or by edititing /etc/urpmi/urpmi.cfg directly.

All the M3 sources were removed when I upgraded, then when I added a completer set of M4 sources un-ticking the two .iso sources which are now curtsey of isodumper on a stick.
My Bluetooth adapter usb dongle isn't being found, so my bluetooth mouse doesn't work.
After a three or four resets the adapter is seen. Over all not bad for a beta.

Noticing that update doesn't look whether the install medium is either a DVD or a USB Memory Stick doesn't bare mention!!! :o I thought that was how community bug testing worked.

Well, so where's your bugreport? This is a forum for support and discussion and maybe for verification of bugs, but not to report bugs.
Then please report that as a bug, after searching if it hasn't been reported yet already: https://wiki.mageia.org/en/How_to_report_a_bug_properly

I'll get round to it probably Sunday, Its not like it's a catastrophic bug. I've only started to use sticks with an OS on today Before I b report want to know if it's a M4 a M3 issue or Hardware, the complication is I've changed my kit. The torrent thing has taken my attention today. That has my focus I'm also preparing a net book to accompany me for a stay in hospital so I'm downloading M1 32bit as that machine is a little slow.
