guvcview, luvcview, kamoso, wxcam, vlc, camorama ...
You could easily have searched for most of those in rpmdrake or with urpmf/urpmq, searching for e.g. "webcam" in the description of the packages.

There are others not in Mageia repositories:
webcamoid - http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php/We ... ent=144796
kamerka - http://dos1.github.io/kamerka/
camstream - http://www.smcc.demon.nl/camstream/
webKam - not maintained anymore - http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php/we ... tent=76902

Better idea would probably be to find out why cheese doesn't start anymore ...

kamerka looks good, a RPM would make it possible.

Cheese has just started working when I disabled the on-board Audio as the speaker (green) socket is possibly improperly grounded and causing feedback when any RF device phones etc... even the boiler, came on in the building, initially it just stopped being seen on M3 and an upgrade to M4, but latterly it just stopped being seen.
