[SOLVED] AMD HD 7750 not working with Mageia 3?

Postby hawk03_SIGN9 » Sep 22nd, '13, 21:07

Hey there guys! I' ve just installed my new vga. It's an AMD HD 7750 and I'm trying to install the AMD Catalyst Driver. I'm running the binary file and it says that it is not supported, although Catalyst supports my card. Any ideas? I'm running Mageia 3. Thanks! :)

What Cat version are you trying, the one in the repo?

if not sure type this in a console.

Code: Select all
rpm -qa | grep fglrx

post output of

Code: Select all
grep -i driver /var/log/Xorg.0.log

Hey thanks for the quick response.

I am using the one from the repo (12.104-3), I've also tried the 13.4 from the AMD site but it won't install. It says that my adapter is not supported by this driver.

Here is the output:

No prob , glad it's sorted itself for you. :D

Just curious though, as according to the output above it was loading a driver for an Intel integrated graphics, Does it have on board graphics?

Was wondering if it had, then it would of had to disable the on board when detecting a dedicated card was installed . I thought that was done in bios level though :?

would you be so kind as to post the out put of this command .

Code: Select all
lspci | grep VGA

Might not show though as its now using the AMD card mind ... ;)

Code: Select all
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Cape Verde PRO [Radeon HD 7750]

It just shows my AMD card. Yes, it has on board graphics but I had disabled it on bios. Although the only thing I got was a black screen even when I installed the driver over repo using my on board Intel and rebooting with the AMD card :P I'm not sure what is actually happening but I'm enjoying it :P

I hope I answered to your question :)

hehe, Thought you did.

Just a quick question:

When you first put the AMD card in, did you connect your monitor to it, then boot or leave it on the on board? As that might have enabled the on board again if detected a monitor still attached! .

lol, sorry for the 20 Q's just noisy and like to get to the bottom of a riddle as it were.....
