I've installed Mageia 3 (64bits version) over some partition of my hard disk. Since I could not boot ubuntu anymore (for a moment I triple booted Windows XP, Ubuntu 12.04 and Mageia 3), I decided to delete my ubuntu partition and create a new one and install Ubuntu 12.04 on it.
Ever since I have done that, I can't boot Mageia 3 anymore. I can still access to my files in the Mageia 3 partition but I can't boot the OS anymore.
When I reboot, grub appears and the last 2 lines are "Mageia 3 (3)" and "Mageia 3 (3)" and both leads to the same "error" message. So there's not even a recovery mode for Mageia 3.
The error message I get when trying to boot any of these 2 Mageia 3 (3) is:
- Code: Select all
Display driver issue
The display driver currently requires you to use 'noKmsboot' boot option to prevent the KMS driver of the kernel from being loaded into the boot process. Startup of the X server may now fail as that option was not specified.
OK.
Then I can't do anything. I have a commandline that I get no response whatever I write in. So I have to manually push on the reset button of my computer to reboot.
I've seen a similar error message in this forum from 2012 for Mageia 1 I believe, but the thread remained unsolved (the guy reinstalled Mageia from scractch to overcome the problem and the answers given to him didn't work).
I would like any help to boot Mageia 3 again. Thank you in advance!
