Mageia 3 every Login, I have to config Internet conect.

hello World

Well, i installed Mageia 3, and about the InternetManager is like using the 1st "Ford" car.

Yeah, can someone tell me why everytime i login into Mageia 3 desktop my connection 3G (to connect a FlashPen Mobile modem Huawei E173), doesnt connect?

And the only solution is to start a new conection everytime, in the Manager Control (Network & Internet). Oh My God ;(

Why this doesn't simple Work like in Linux Mint (14). Even with Sakis3G it doesn't work, it says : Both "lsusb" and "/proc/bus/usb/devices" are missing

And to the system to "see" may E173 i had to do a lot of things like here says: http://linux.error-exception.org/articl ... e+13.37%3F

1->login into root
2->Install usb-modeswitch in Program Manager
3->create folder usb_modeswitch.d here---> /etc/usb_modeswitch.d/12d1:1c0b:
etc,,,,,,,,,,,,,

By the way, to connect a new Router Wi-Fi Huawei E5331, I had to do the connection not in 3G but with the last option (POTS), lo_ol

Please, send me to Mars. If someone could make a simple Mageia 3 system that after installed it could connect to the internet to simple make Updates, without this Bugs.

Thanks
(i think i'm going to Linux Mint again, if this has no solution)

While i have no solution to your problem, i would say this about hardware in general
simply because your request is like so many others.

with linux, dont go out and buy hardware from a supplier, expecting it to work with linux.

this applies to all versions of linux period.

While linux is getting better all the time, having that windows like expectation that it will just work is foolhardy.

almost all the drivers for hardware are reverse engineered by volenteers contributing to the linux kernel, not mageia.

some distributions due to user demand may add manufacturers kernel modules to a distribition,
where the manuafactuers are good enough to supply them, but some manufacturers
simply ignore linux altogether.

but the mageia maintainers cant do this unless there are several cries from users for this to be added.

Instead, work the other way round, choose a distribution that works for you overall, and then identify hardware that
will work with it, and then stick to that hardware/distribution.

But you expect the hardware to work with multiple distributions, and then blame the maintainers of mageia
by making comparisons of their work with another, theres obviosly something about linux mint you dont like
or you would not be trying out mageia.

I know what id be saying if i was one of the maintainers, but im far less polite then they are.

mageia works with all my hardware, because ive chosen carefully, with the one exception the trackpad on my laptop, and
in that case all linux's are lacking across the board. I could say linux stinks because of this as it works ok in windows,
and why cant distribution X get its act together and support my trackpad, but at the end of the day that wont get me any help,
the best answer is join in and try and solve the problem with them.

in this particular case it could be config scripts are not holding the info on your modem.
so look at the code of a distribution that works and try to identify where mageia may be failing
and file a bug report, as since you have the troubled hardware to hand your in the best position to fix it.

Why the Netwok Manager doesn't have the Connect and Disconnect opcion available in the connection that i created before, it not allows me to have control on it. Just after i made a new connection (with same things), it apears.

When i start the Computer and make Login it should at least have the option to clik on a Link Connection, and start using the Internet.

So, instead i have to do a new connection everytime, i could simple do Connect and Disconnect, (i see the button but don't let me have control on it).

One of the most importante tasks that a system must have is the connection to the Internet. If this is not the main priority, so users simple change to other system that works.

The program Sakis3G make it simple to connect an 3G connection (but here in Mageia 3, things work different). I think the Netwok Manager should have that same way, what comes to 3G, and a simple button [Connect] [Disconnect].

Under Networking Settings, Start the Connection at Boot. I had to do that to keep my connection starting after booting. Have you tried it?

I'm using a USB 4G device for internet access.

Just a thought.
