[SOLVED] Boot error after install

Hi to all,

I recently bought a new desktop, MEDION Erazer X5330 D:

http://aldi.medion.com/md8845/ch_it/?refPage=aldi # glossar_anker

and of course I immediately removed Windows 8 for Mageia 3.

By following this guide:

http://wiki.sabayon.org/index.php?title ... rtitioning

i was able to successfully install Mageia 3, only after reboot I get an error message: No valid boot device ...

The desktop has a 2Tb HD and 30G SSD (left completely empty).

I'm not very familiar with the BIOS setup values for Legacy CSM. I've tried various settings but nothing.

I turned off the RAID0 leaving 2 hd independent.

I also tried with super grub2 disk but does not detect any hard disk or grub2 installed ...

this is my actual partitions:

Partition file system Label Dim. Flag
/dev/sda1 33Mb bios_grub
/dev/sda2 ext2 GRUB_FILES 1Gb boot
/dev/sda3 linux-swap 8Gb
/dev/sda5 ext4 1.75Tb
/dev/sda4 ext4 60Gb

Any suggestion will be a great help,

thanks,

Roberto.

Hi,

i just solved the problem using GParted to change the partion tables in the msdos type (both on SSD and HD).

Then i used Windows 7 to format them in NTFS.
At the end i installed Windows 7 on the SSD and Mageia 3 on the HD (leaving a small NTFS partition on it at the beginning) and saving GRUB2 in the /dev/sdb (SSD, the only one that can boot).
