Software Center is not working

Postby RedPenguin » Jun 28th, '13, 20:31

Hey community, today i installed Mageia 3. After the installation i wanted to install some new features using the software center in the main menu. I was asked to type in my root password, but it didn't work.I tryed multiple times, but nothing seemed to help. Then i thought i could fix the problem by changing the root password via console with
Code: Select all
passwd
, and tried again - same problem. Anyone here with the same problem? Some sugesstions how to fix this? Thank you, and sorry for any mistakes in my language.

I've installed Mageia 3 many times, but didn't have this problem.
How did you install Mageia?

I understand you can become root in the console.

Can you try becoming root first, and then giving the command
Code: Select all
mcc

That should start the Mageia Control Center

You might need to configure your media first, before you can install new packages, so in this screen
http://doc.mageia.org/mcc/3/en/content/software-management.html
first choose Configure media sources for install and update and after finishing that, choose
Software Management (Install and Remove Software)

Please read the related pages (follow the links from the page above) if you're new to Mageia.

I hope you have checked all the usual suspects, like caps lock key down, etc?
