[DONE] LibreOffice Basque corrector

Postby aselluza » May 27th, '13, 20:51

Hi, I've installed Mageia 3 in my laptop and I've just realized of something important for me. I'm a Basque writer and for many years I've used OpenOffice/LibreOffice in my language, and it always had a good Basque ortography corrector. Now I was writing and I realized it wasn't correcting my text. I checked it and realized Basque dictionary is not available. The Basque language pack is installed as usual, but Basque doesen't appear marked as one of the languages that can be used for correction... Does anybody know ehere the problem could be? It would be really hard to understand that a language that has been supported for so many years now lost its dicionary :? I'd thank any kind of help as it's very important for my daily work...

Yes, and checking libreoffice configuration and dictionaries it detects basque dictionary installed, but it doesan't work. finally i had to download an old openoffice plugin with another basque dictionary and now it's working, but this problem is strange and shouldn't happen, it never happened before...

Thanks for telling how you got it to work! What is the name of that old plugin? (In case someone else runs into the same problem)

You're right, though, it should have worked out of the box.

It could be an upstream issue

The strange thing was that English and Spanish spell checkers worked and only Basque language appeared unavailable although installed.

I downloaded the old "Xuxen" Basque dictionary for OpenOffice from the list here:

http://libreoffice-na.us/English-4.0-in ... onary.html

Maybe the dictionaries on that list may help other people with problems in other languages...

Thanks!!
