[SOLVED] login problem

Postby ZhantaX » Jun 10th, '13, 01:26

SOLVED When I try to log in after installing Mageia3 KDE most of the space is covered by a black square. I believe its a Bash console. If I close it I am automatically logged out. How to fix this?

Which media did you use for installation? And was it a fresh install or an upgrade? Did you use an old /home partition?

I used a DVD 64bit fullversion and saved the home partition from Debian 6.

Can you please try with a freshly created user or by moving away/renaming your ~/.kde4 settings?

There are other problems. I cant use the menus in Firefox which is the only program i can open due to the bug report function in bash. Im now trying to find a way to close Firefox since Ctrl+Q doesnt work. Its to complicated to do anything so I believe I will reinstall Mageia3 with the Gnome interface.

I have reinstalled Mageia, this time with the Gnome desktop. It seem so far to work allright. I can even use my superID and log into the crownjuvel of Mageia and the main reason I return to it; the Mageia control panel! Thank you doktor5000 for your help, allthough I chosed the reinstallation road!

I had a similar problem. During the login process the error message is shown.
"Could not update .ICEauthority file"
/home/franz/.ICEauthority
And the user is immediately logged out.

Solution: Restart with the security console. Remove the file /home/franz/.ICEauthority. Then restart Mageia.
