That seems strange to me. What sort of CPU does your system have? And how much system memory? Do you have HP toolkit installed? Are you sure you are using the right printer driver for your printer? Unless you have an older, slower machine, it would seem to me that something must be wrong with your configuration. Ink jet printers tend to be slow by design, but, in your case, it seems like something is seriously wrong somewhere.

You should make SURE you have the HP ToolKit installed. The package is: hplip-3.12.9-6.mga3. Installing that, if it is not installed, just might ease your pain. - George

In the MCC software installer MAKE SURE you have the drop down selector in the top left corner set to "All" and not to "Packages with GUI". There are six hplip packages available, I recommend installing all of them. - George

You may also need to go to the "Hardware" section of MCC and then to the Printer configuration section and change the driver for your printer from the generic driver to an HP provided driver, since I think that HP Tools installs printer optimized HP drivers. So if things don't get better, you may want to explore that angle as well. Also you will want to go to Menu -> Tools -> System Tools -> HP Device Manager and explore that feature as well. - George
