[SOLVED] Mageia 3 B2 video problem

I am trying to install Mageia 3 B2 in a Virtualbox VM.
I have multiple VMs running Mageia 2 and Mageia 3 Beta 1 that all work fine on this computer.

I downloaded the DVD iso and installed using mostly defaults, I chose the vesa graphics adapter and 1024 x 768 and the test looked fine. (also tried a few other video options with the same results.
After reboot I get the low resolution login prompt

when I attempt to login "login succesful" flashes briefly and then the login prompt reappears
If I try to login as root the screen flashes to red for a brief moment and then the login prompt reappears

Any idea what to try?

What is the outcome if you accept the default display setup at configuration page?

Beta 3 DVD had the same problem.
I was able to use a Beta 3 Live CD and boot up and install that way.

Beat 4 DVD now works great and it installed perfectly for me!
