[SOLVED] Touch pad Stopped working after adjustment

Postby n8xkradio » Apr 7th, '13, 16:42

Hello, This is my first post to Mageia forum. I really like the job the developers are doing with the OS, first rate.

My problem is with a Compaq Presario v5000 laptop touch pad. My wife was having a problem with the touch pad when she was typing. So I just turned it off in the system settings. Now the touch pad will not turn back on and we must use a USB mouse. The only thing I found in the forum was a suggestion to try, synclient TouchpadOff=0, however this did not change anything. Any help will be grateful.

if you did it through system settings then there will be a stored file in your home
directory relating to that setting.

if you are using kde, then just clearing down the .kde directory will reset all kde based settings.

this "should" return you to defaults

Better recommend renaming/moving ~/.kde ;)

Sorry but I am not sure what to look for in the KDE directory. I hope to have more time this weekend to dig deeper.

Just a short hint: to have this /.kde-directory visible in lets say Dolphin, you should activate Dolphin for showing "hidden directories".

SOLVED, found the "kcmtouchpadrc" file in kde4 directory. I removed it to a flash drive for " safe keeping '" just in case, I then rebooted and all is working as it should.
Thanks isadora, doktor5000, and wintpe for the help.
