XFdrake
This will start the graphics driver configuration tool (using a rather clunky text-based interface, as you don't have a working xorg server at the moment). Try using that to reconfigure your graphics driver. Note that in Mageia 3 beta 2, by default it disables the "start X on boot" option - you want to enable that.
If that doesn't work, unless you have particularly new hardware that needs Mageia 3 to work, I would recommend doing a fresh install using Mageia 2. Mageia 3 is still in development, and has a number of issues at present (particularly if you have a Nvidia graphics card). You are effectively running Cauldron which is the unstable development version of Mageia - so if you update your system, occasionally things will break!
Note that if you install from the KDE live CD, GNOME is not available on the CD, so can't be installed during the initial install. Not a problem - go to the software installation tool and install the meta-package 'task-gnome'. If, however, you install from the DVD, you can select both KDE and GNOME desktops to be installed. You can then try them both, and decide which you prefer.
