No System Crash Recovery

Postby saptech » Dec 16th, '12, 14:21

Earlier this morning I had just installed fsarchiver to run a partition backup of a different partition and everything was going good but then received this system crash screen message.

Here is a picture of the screen:

At this point, the system was locked and I wasn't able to logout. I had to press the power button on the box to reboot. It looked like the backup continued to run, I could see both ext. hd and internal hd lights blinking, so I made sure it had time to finish. Looking at the finished backup archive files, I believe it's okay.

I was backing up /dev/sda1 to an external usb hard drive. Mga3 Gnome3 is on /dev/sda5.

Any ideas what may be causing this? Do I need to write a bug report?

Thnx.

That is coming from Gnome itself, it's the new infamous Gnome screen-of-death or whatever you want to call it.

I can confirm that this Recovery issue is related to Gnome 3. I have been running KDE 4 for a few weeks and haven't had it happen using it.

It mostly occurs when using G3 and I use fsarchiver to backup a partition to an external hard drive or I copy from a usb thumb drive to the external hard drive. Using KDE and the same procedure, it hasn't happen.

Would this be a Mga3 issue or Gnome 3 issue? It never happen when I was running Mga2 with G2.

Just a thought!
