Realtek wifi driver help

Realtek wifi driver help

Postby zfish » Feb 9th, '13, 22:54

I download the driver from realtek, which what I needed was rtl8188ce. I have no idea how to make or install it. I thought I found a thread that would help but it didn't do me any good. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Please as root in a terminal provide the output of
Code: Select all
lspcidrake -v | grep NET
and
Code: Select all
rpm -qa | grep firmware
Cauldron is not for the faint of heart!
Caution: Hot, bubbling magic inside. May explode or cook your kittens!

I've just added some code-tags to your post to improve on clarity ..

What you probably need is this package: rtlwifi-firmware

Name : rtlwifi-firmware
Version : 20121030
Release : 1.mga2.nonfree
Group : System/Kernel and hardware
Size : 321459 Architecture: noarch
Source RPM : kernel-firmware-nonfree-20121030-1.mga2.nonfree.src.rpm
URL : http://www.kernel.org/
Summary : Nonfree rtlwifi firmware files for the Linux kernel
Description :
This package contains all the rtlwifi wireless firmware files
previously shipped in rtl8192se-firmware and
kernel-firmware-extra/nonfree packages.

Please show the output of
Code: Select all
urpmq --list-media active
or take a look at https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Software_management
to learn how to enable the nonfree repositories, where rtlwifi-firmware is contained.
Cauldron is not for the faint of heart!

Thank you for helping me out. I went ahead and tried Mageia 3 and it worked right out of the box.
