JACK wouldn't recognise ALSA on Mgeia 2

Postby hosadeeb » Feb 6th, '13, 13:32

Hi,
I just installed Mageia 2, squashing my older Mandriva 2010.2! Everything is starting to work fine (just), apart from many of my favourite oldies that I couldn't find on the distro's repository, which I intend to later install from source. Still, since I'm a composer, I cannot just live without all my musical arsenal (where is Bristol??!!).

On launching QjackCtl, JACK claims it can't find seq, and the directory where it resides (/dev/snd/) is inaccessible to it, which is more than strange!!! I'm having pulseaudio on, with all its necessary paraphernalia to work along side JACK. By the way, Aumix wouldn't work, either; I suppose for the same reason(s).

Could you please help? Many thanks in advance.

Is your user member of the audio group?

Apart from that, you should take a look at viewtopic.php?f=26&t=627 and viewtopic.php?f=4&t=56

Hi, thanks
I didn't check, actually. But I had read the article you're referring to, and I did un-check pulseaudio in the Hardware section in the CP, after which everything seems to work just fine. Except that, sometimes, pulse gets mysteriously invoked, in which case I have to manually kill it for things to return to normal, i.e. just plain ALSA and JACK.
