KDE : Watch a video using samba.

KDE : Watch a video using samba.

Postby pmithrandir » Feb 5th, '13, 10:04

Hello,

I hav a samba shared folder on my principal laptop where I store my videos.

I have also few equipments connected on this folder to watch videos from everywhere.

- My girlfriend laptop on Vista
- My Wii (using WiiMC)
- A small laptop ecafe on mageia 2 KDE version.

On all equipmants, i can read videos without copying them, except on my ecafe. KDE want to download them on my temp folder before. (but it takes a lot)

I know that I could create a mount point, but I think it would not be the best solution, as my laptop is not all the time turn on. So, utomoiunt would not work in the best way, and I would have to use dayly the console (oh my god, what a nightmare ;) ) More than me, I want my girlfriend to be able to do it without help, like she does on windows... you click and it's openning.

Would you know how to do that ? Do you think that KDE put this function in place ?

Thanks,
Pierre

EDIT : i translated all my post that was in french... Sorry
J'ai déjà essayer d'installer kmplayer ou de lancer smplayer avec le %U comme conseillé dans pas mal de sujets sur le net.

What player are you using? There's a lot of options, xine, smplayer, kaffeine etc. Sometimes one behaves the way you need. EG on one system I have to use kmplayer for videos, I'd rather not, but that's the only player that behaves on this machine.

I tried smplayer and kmplayer.

For the moment, I didn't tried others. I tried it before on another laptop... without success.
