Have there been any new updates recently? Everytime I run the update command it always return, 'Packages are up to date'. I'm just making sure my sources are okay. I went from the Beta 2 to the final release.

Any updates ?

Postby pmithrandir » Jun 7th, '11, 21:46

Hi !

It's very strange, there is no updates since one week on my computer.

Is it the same for you or do I have a problem on my set up with the version 1 repositories ?

Cauldron has just been reopened yesterday and the build system is at the moment adapted to build updates/backports for Mageia 1 as well, so just wait a few more days and updates will be rolling in.

Does this apply to the 64 bit version?

I just made a clean install and there is also no updates on x86_64.

If you add the tainted repositories, you should run this command, to replace the untainted versions of the media players/codecs by the tainted ones, fetching all codecs as dependencies:

Code: Select all
urpmi --auto-update

It seems that the update tool only looks for new packages in repositories where both the "enabled" and "updates" column has a tick in "media manager" (in my installation only the update repositories have them both). The above command on the contrary checks every enabled repository for newer packages.

See this thread https://forums.mageia.org/en/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=469&p=3009&hilit=update+64#p3009.

Both i586 and x86_64 repos are always in sync, so a package update would be pushed to both of them at the same time.

Code: Select all
urpmi --auto-update

I don't understand... I got some updates on my computer updates from mandriva to beta 2, to 1, but no updates on my mageia 1.

Am I on cauldron if I get updates ? (kernel, aria2...)

The first are coming in in updates/testing. But be aware of the word testing in this repository. If you install them and something is not working afterwards, don't complain to me :D

Just got my updates a couple weeks back after starting in May, timing was good for me. Thanks for working so hard team...
So thankful that I am now able to work in this industry. Because I was able to be discovered through various IT staffing companies I am now happier than ever. Thanks to the tech community for being so welcoming as finally my nerdy dreams have come true
