[SOLVED] CUPS requires account login for remote

[SOLVED] CUPS requires account login for remote

Postby wrw105 » Dec 29th, '12, 16:33

I'm sure this is just a setting I'm overlooking, but I'm stumped on this one.

I'm using a MGA2 desktop as a print server. Printing from a remote client requires a user on the server to be logged in, or the print server won't accept jobs. Is there a setting I"m missing to allow remote printing to this device without a user logged in to the server?

Thanks!
Bill

It sounds like windows printing rather than cups. Is the remote client a windows machine?

What does the server say (or what do his logs say) if you send jobs to it, when noone is logged in and CUPS is running?

I just tried another job so I could check logs on it. Printing showed a printer error on the client, and as I was just starting to check the logs, the job printed.

It looks like the error was user impatience.

Marked as solved...

Interesting to read, so self-reflective ... :)
