[SOLVED] Libre Office Label Printing

Postby paulcbrennan2001 » Nov 24th, '12, 18:22

I am trying to print address labels for sending Christmas cards but I encountered a problem. As in previous years, using Open Office, I created a label document with fields as I wanted. I then opened my Data Source and using the Ctrl key selected the addresses I wanted inserted on the label document (14 labels per sheet). Unfortunately it will only insert the first address and repeats it on all 14 labels. My wife's Windows machine has Open Office on it so I tried it on that - no problem. Is there a bug in Libre Office?

Thanks

I have never used this function.
I think you will get best response from LibreOffice forum.

It could be a deliberate change, but more likely an accidental one. As morgano suggests, best to ask this in the LibreOffice forums or report it as a bug in the LibreOffice bug tracker.

To get round this, you could try installing and using OpenOffice. I use this in preference to LibreOffice, because LibreOffice has broken several features I rely on. You can have both installed on Mageia, although OpenOffice will get removed if LibreOffice gets updated.

Thanks for your comments. I will probably download OpenOffice as LibreOffice has to many quirks that can be very annoying.

I believe the developers like to refer to these as "cool new features" ;)

I attempted to install OpenOffice (version 3.4.1 - the latest available stable release) but it refused because LibreOffice was using later versions of some files. Does this mean LibreOffice has to be removed?

It wasn't necessary to remove LibreOffice when I first installed OpenOffice, but a quick experiment suggests it is now.

There are separate settings for printer, office and paper layout. I don't know exactly in which area you are facing problem. Let me installed the same setting first.

For some reason you are set to "synchronize" the labels; that's why it prints the first label again and again. Make a new label (file, new, labels) and don't press synchronize. At least that works for me.
