Connecting cell phone in tethering mode

Postby kevin » Nov 15th, '12, 05:13

hey guys.not trying to rain on anyones parade, but i have been trying out mageia lately, and there is one big problem for me.I have a samsung cell phone I tether to my computer for online access, and on just about every other os,I can get online with no trouble, with the exception of MAGEIA and HAIKU OS,and Im pretty sure I am not the only one who does this.online access of any type is pure basic, and if that does not work there is no point in my using it.anyway isn't mageia far more advanced than haiku.I would expect something like this from them, but certainly not mageia.
just saying

I also use my cell phone in tethering mode for my netbook running Mageia2. I did not have to alter any settings in the Mageia system because it's just a normal wifi connection (the tethering device aka cell phone is nothing else than yet another wifi access point in reach). The wifi setup showed the cepp phone as one of the APs in reach and all I had to do was configuring the password which is set in the cell phone's tethering setup. Done.

Thx a lot, I do not have the necessary permissions so I had to ask.
In this section here I have the permissions :)

If your phone is Android, you can use EasyTether with Mageia. During easytether setup, you have an option to download OS-specific drivers, listing the rpm version for Fedora. I've used it under MGA1 and 2, and it works well for me.
