gtk applications & system/firefox fonts

Postby yura » Nov 14th, '12, 15:18

Hi all!
By the way, sorry for my english...just lerning ;)

Ok,i have some troubles with my favorite linux distributive. I use kde edition on my laptop dell inspiron.
I was a little bit confused after firefox looking in kde. It isn't to offend, but kubuntu has pretty good displayed firefox interface and (not sure, but...) type of fonts which looking more organicaly. In mageia 2 some fonts in firefox looks very fatly another ones very tiny or characters bump to each other. And the main firefox interface looks a little bit alien in kde. In comparison with kubuntu, where were included some special modifications for gtk2/3 applications. Anyway, kubuntu doesn't be compared with mageia in stability, kde-integrated and much more points ;)

What do you do in firefox and system font settings, system tweaks for gtk?
What the best type of fonts for kde (in your opinion)?
it would be pleasure to see your screens with explanations

Thanks in advice!

Hi Yura
The fonts in Firefox and gtk applications should look OK.
I am wondering if you have a localisation issue.
What language pack do you use?
Have you changed the KDE theme from the default.

Normally there's nothing needed, and Firefox integrates pretty well into KDE, as we're using oxygen theme and also oxygen-gtk theme,
so most GTK applications should look pretty similar to the QT applications from KDE. Could you please post a screenshot of the current state of firefox?

FWIW, here it looks like this:

hi djennings!
yeah, it's looks much better after my yesterday reinstallation. I think i did something when experimented with my themes and types of fonts. But now, gtk apps looks ok.

No no, a haven't use any localisations, i use english. As i told, i try to learn this language ;)

Nevertheless, i'm looking for any other system font. In my opinion droid fonts looks better than sans but not perfect.

2 doktor5000:
yours firefox looks good :!: i haven't ability to show my screen of firefox for now (i'm not at home) but will do it at the evening.
Unlike you I have ugly view of my fonts in firefox. The characters bumped to each other, somewhere they abnormal tiny, somewhere abnormal big.
doktor5000, pls take a screenshot of windows with system's font settings and window with firefox font settings (firefox->preferences...)

thanks for responses guys!

IIRC i've only forced antialising via systemsettings, and didn't change something in Firefox.
But my Firefox profile is rather old, i'm using it since 1.x times ...
